Your Domain Is wwworth It!

Domains 101:

If you are considering building a website, it is relevant that you have an understanding of what domain registration is, where it fits in and why its important.

Registering a domain is the act of reserving a specific name on the internet, for example www.amazon.com or www.google.com.  Ultimately it is the creation of a name on the world wide web.

Domains are most often renewed annually, with a small fee attached to keeping your .co.za or .com

How it all works:

The registrar of a domain establishes a set of records known as SOA (start of authority) records, within the DNS (domain naming system) servers of the parent domain.  Ok that’s technical but to, to simplify, an SOA record stores crucial information about a domain.

So what are the risks in not reregistering? Perhaps one of the worst bloops was in 2015. Google failed to re-register their domain.  Former Googler, Sanmay Ved picked up on this and bought google.com for the heck of it. Google ended up buying back their own domain for a massive $12 Million, Sanmay Ved had to sell the domain back only because Google owns the registrar.

These are some of the bigger fees we could incur by not keeping up with our domain registrations. However, reregistering your domain is something you need never worry about, we’ll mange it for you.
